Welcome to the 2021 Race
On behalf of the Beverly Yacht Club, Blue Water Sailing Club and the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, please accept our invitation to participate in the 2021 Marion Bermuda Race. This will mark the 23rd running of the Race. It has been a wonderful 44 years, starting from a race that began with two old sailing buddies talking about racing from Marion to Bermuda and inviting their friends, to each boat being tracked through satellite navigation for all the world to follow. It is and always has always been a race aimed at cruising boats and remains so today.

Start: Friday June 9, 2017 - 40th AnniversaryThe Marion Bermuda Race will start in Buzzards Bay off Marion, Massachusetts, and finish off St. David’s Head, Bermuda.
Since its inception in 1977, the Marion Bermuda Race has been a Corinthian event, and yachts are accepted by invitation. The spirit of the race is that all yachts and crew are participating for the joy and pleasure of sailing, competition, and the camaraderie that accompanies such an off-shore event. The race provides an opportunity for cruising yachts and amateur crews to participate in an ocean race and a rendezvous in Bermuda. It encourages the development of blue water sailing skills on seaworthy yachts that can be handled safely offshore with limited crew. Prizes are awarded in various categories with a bonus for celestially navigated yachts.

Prepping the Celestial Boat for the Marion to Bermuda Race — Including the New AIS Rules
By Ron Wisner
Every boat owner has a winter “boat list” of projects and maintenance as the boat is being readied for the next season. However, if the owner is doing the Bermuda race, the usual winter’s “boat list” has doubled.
The celestial boat has some additional preparations that the other boats do not. Some of this additional preparation stems from the fact that we cannot use our electronic instruments. Other preparations come from the nature and practice of the actual navigation.
2023 Marion Bermuda Race Wrap-Up
The 2023 Marion Bermuda Race was not for the faint of heart. The fleet saw conditions ranging from fast-moving squalls to completely still air; the mostly light winds tested both patience and skill for the 32 skippers and their crew that set sail on June 16th from Buzzards Bay in Marion, Massachusetts. In an unusually slow race, the final boat did not cross the finish line off of St. David's Lighthouse in Bermuda until 7:45 EDT on Friday morning — with more than 163 hours of elapsed sailing time under her keel.
