Safety at Sea Symposium

The 2009 Marion Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race Safety at Sea Symposium is
scheduled for March 28, 2009, and will be held at MIT. For the first time the event will be held in the very comfortable Kresge Auditorium.
We have lined up a very experienced group of speakers to address a series of topics
which are of vital interest to all serious sailors.
The event is sanctioned by US Sailing and will be moderated by Capt. John Bonds
USN (Ret). Captain Bonds is a acknowledged expert on safety at sea and was the first Director of Navy Sailing and Commodore of the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron. He will be assisted by Howard Lapsley, a very experienced offshore
sailor, Capt. Henry Marx, and several other well qualified speakers.
Cost of the Symposium is $115. and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and the certificate of attendance from US Sailing. US Sailing members receive a $5. discount
The program will begin promptly at 0730 and is scheduled to continue until 1800.

NEW! Practical training to be offered on Sunday, March 29.
The symposium will now be complemented by a NEW and exciting second day (Sunday, March 29) of practical training sessions, including: Medical Emergencies, Weather, CPR and an In-Water course using ISAF approved curriculum.
